QUestions
you could be asking

How can I get them to stop calling me?
First, you have to tell them to stop. Either tell the caller, "Stop calling me," or mail a one-sentence letter requesting that the calls stop. If they ignore you and you still get calls, it's time to call us. The calls will definitely stop right after Lemberg Law takes your case, and we send them a notice that we are your lawyers.
How much does your legal service cost?
Zero out of pocket. There’s no out of pocket cost to our clients because we work on a contingency basis. That means we don’t get paid unless we win. When we do, depending on the details of your case, either the harassing caller will pay our fees directly, or we will retain a fraction of the monetary settlement recovered on your behalf.
They are calling a wrong number. It’s not for me!
If a debt collector is calling you by mistake, they’re probably violating the law. If they continue to call after you’ve told them that they have the wrong number, it means they’re knowingly breaking the law. This could increase the financial recovery for you.
I asked a debt collector to stop calling me, but I’m still getting calls. How can be this be legal?
If they are using an automatic dialer at their call center, it's probably not legal. You have the right to revoke consent to receive calls. You have the right not to get calls on your cell phone. Contact us as soon as possible; you probably have a strong legal case.

Your debt collection harassment checklist:

If a debt collector is engaging in any of these behaviors, you may have a case:

  • Calling multiple times per week
  • Calling before 8:00 a.m. or after 9:00 p.m.
  • Calling your workplace
  • Using profane or abusive language
  • Threatening to sue you, harm you, or destroy your credit
  • Talking to others about your debt
  • Calling repeatedly for the wrong person
  • Failing to notify you of your right to dispute the debt
  • Failing to send you a letter within five days of their first phone call
  • Telling you that you’ve committed a crime
  • Contacting you after you’ve asked them not to

WHAT YOU CAN DO

If debt collectors are calling your cell phone, do not ignore them! It’s easy to take charge and make them stop. The law protects you. The first step is to tell them to stop. Talk to a real person and simply say, “Stop calling me.” Or opt out using their automated system. Alternatively, you can send a short, one-sentence (handwritten is OK!) letter telling them to stop. No special legal wording is needed. Keep a record of what you do and when. If they keep calling, call us ASAP!

What consumers are saying...

"A belated thanks to your firm. I still get an occasional call but when I ask them not to they stop. Hopefully sometime in the future all the collection agencies will be exhausted. The peace from the constant calls is refreshing."
Jim H. from Columbia, SC,
"I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you! Being in debt is hard enough without being harassed by collection agencies, but thanks to you I no longer have to be a victim. I did not know what to expect when I emailed your company, but from the beginning you guys were on the ball. You were very professional and helpful…. For once I didn’t feel like I was alone in the battle. I received a check from your company – and that was amazing in itself – but also the debt collector is no longer on my back. It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. If you are unsure about this company…DON'T BE!!! They are for real when they say they are here to help you. It only takes a few short minutes of your time to talk to a rep. I was a skeptic, but you did everything you said you would! I can’t say thank you enough!"
Curtis F. from Denver, CO,
